Since beginning in 1974 as a small group of specialists in the fledgling discipline of computer graphics, the ACM SIGGRAPH organization has evolved to become an international community of researchers, artists, practitioners, and business professionals who share an interest in computer graphics and interactive techniques. ACM SIGGRAPH offers a diverse menu of programs and services for its members — the computer graphics community — through two annual conferences and year-round.

ACM SIGGRAPH’s mission is to nurture, champion, and connect researchers and practitioners of computer graphics and interactive techniques. At SIGGRAPH 2019, the organization offers a bounty of educational and networking opportunities that will expand the conversation around computer graphics. What follows are just some of the highlights you can expect in L.A., 28 July–1 August.

ACM SIGGRAPH Frontiers Workshops and Talks

The ACM SIGGRAPH Frontiers program showcases perspectives on emerging and adjacent areas of interest to the SIGGRAPH community. Through a series of talks and workshops, attendees explore new research problems and applications for the SIGGRAPH community. ACM SIGGRAPH Frontiers Talks take place throughout the week at 8 am, while the six workshops are held concurrently on Sunday, 28 July.

ACM SIGGRAPH Doctoral Consortium

The ACM SIGGRAPH Doctoral Consortium is a forum for Ph.D. students to meet and discuss their work with each other and a panel of experienced ACM SIGGRAPH researchers in an informal and interactive setting. Applicants are within a year of completing their Ph.D. and well into their dissertation research. Accepted students receive a complimentary full conference registration.

ACM SIGGRAPH Thesis Fast Forward

ACM SIGGRAPH holds its second annual Thesis Fast Forward program at SIGGRAPH 2019 to provide more young presenters with a platform for sharing innovative ideas and gaining valuable exposure.

A jury has selected 13 candidates who are each asked to perform three-minute oral presentations during a special session at 2 pm on Tuesday, 30 July. A panel of experts will provide immediate commentary after each presentation and select a best performance. See a list of selected work.

ACM SIGGRAPH Diversity and Inclusion Summit

The ACM SIGGRAPH Diversity and Inclusion Summit showcases how inclusion, diversity, equity, and access encourage leadership to make us a vibrant, innovative, collaborative, and strong organization. The impact of diversity adds significant value to our community, encouraging us to make better decisions, develop better algorithms, and engage with art, media, and design. The ACM SIGGRAPH Diversity and Inclusion Summit has a roster of informative and impactful speakers from a range of backgrounds and disciplines that demonstrate how our diversity makes us stronger. The Summit takes place Sunday, 28 July. View a detailed schedule of speakers and topics.

ACM SIGGRAPH Student Research Competition

The ACM Student Research Competition (SRC) is sponsored by Microsoft and offers a unique forum for undergraduate and graduate students to present their original research at well-known ACM sponsored and co-sponsored conferences before a panel of judges and attendees. The final presentation at SIGGRAPH 2019 will take place on Wednesday, 31 July at 3:45 pm.

ACM SIGGRAPH Theater Events

The ACM SIGGRAPH Theater presents informative sessions on the current state of computer graphics around the world, organized by representatives of the International Resources Committee, ACM SIGGRAPH, and affiliated societies. Review the list of presentations and other events, including the Chapters Party, Pioneers Reception, and Berthouzoz Women in Research Lunch.

ACM SIGGRAPH Town Halls

A series of informative town hall meetings throughout the conference week will help members of the organization learn how to be more active in our international community of researchers, artists, practitioners, and business professionals. Check a complete list of town halls.
