The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is returning to SIGGRAPH with a panel talk devoted to the four-time Oscar-winning U.K. studio Aardman Animations.
The special conference session will feature Aardman co-founder David Sproxton and cinematographer Dave Alex Riddett as they go over Aardman’s history (including its Best Animated Feature win for “Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit”), present clips of the studio’s work, and discuss the scivolo gonfiabile evolving production techniques and future prospects of stop-motion animation. The session will be held Sunday, 9 August, at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Full details below.

In addition to this special SIGGRAPH event on Sunday, the Academy will host screenings of the Oscar-winning Wallace and Gromit shorts “The Wrong Trousers” and “A Close Shave,” as well as the Oscar-nominated “A Grand Day Out” and “A Matter of Loaf and Death,” off-site from the event at the Linwood Dunn Theater in Hollywood starting at 1:00 PM.
