NVIDIA CEO and founder Jensen Huang will take the stage at SIGGRAPH in two exciting fireside chats, including a joint fireside chat with Meta CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg. From OpenUSD for building AI-enabled 3D pipelines to generative AI solutions across industries to insights in graphics research, there’s plenty to discover in more than 45 sessions delivered by NVIDIA and their partners and customers at this year’s SIGGRAPH. NVIDIA will also provide opportunities for attendees to enhance their skills with training labs on AI, ray tracing, foundation models, and more. There are 23 accepted NVIDIA research papers at SIGGRAPH, and the NVIDIA Inception Startups Innovation Zone will showcase new use cases for computer graphics, visualization, and AI across industries and domains.
Read on to hear from Jensen Huang as you prepare to participate in SIGGRAPH 2024.
SIGGRAPH: SIGGRAPH 2024 is excited to welcome you to the keynote stage in Denver. Tell us one key takeaway you hope conference participants uncover from your keynote, “NVIDIA CEO Fireside Chat: AI and Graphics for the New Computing Revolution”.
Jensen Huang (JH): We’ll have some exciting news that I can’t wait to share with you. Everyone will walk away with a look into what AI will do not only for graphics but for robotics and industries in the future. Our research teams, along with our partners, do an incredible amount of work to create AI models that change how people work, play, and live.
SIGGRAPH: SIGGRAPH 2024 is interested in how computer graphics impact the world on the smallest to the largest scales. How do you and your work at NVIDIA push the boundaries of what is possible to build the most desirable, technological future across all scales?
JH: NVIDIA pioneered accelerated computing nearly three decades ago. From accelerated computing emerged generative AI — the result of over a decade of focused work and billions of dollars of investment. Now, we have made possible for the very first time the production of our most valuable resource — intelligence, at scale. Companies and nations everywhere are building NVIDIA-powered AI factories to process, refine, and manufacture intelligence from data. Accelerated computing is also sustainable computing. NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and generative AI innovations are driving a new industrial revolution, transforming industries through enhanced computing power and improved sustainability.
SIGGRAPH: SIGGRAPH 2024 is fascinated by NVIDIA Earth-2 and how this digital twin can be used to predict the future of the planet. What is one key element computer graphics professionals should know about the impact of Earth-2?
JH: Our Earth-2 platform, a digital twin of our planet, can accurately predict weather patterns at a scale down to two kilometers — 1,000X faster and 3,000X more energy-efficiently than traditional physics models. Earth-2 is accessible to global researchers via DGX Cloud APIs, promoting climate research and sustainability by reducing the need for carbon-intensive supercomputer simulations. The Weather Company and Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration are going to use Earth-2 to help entities anticipate weather scenarios, inform policy, urban development, and infrastructure planning. Earth-2 will help us prepare and inspire us to act on one of the most pressing global challenges of our time — climate.
SIGGRAPH: In a meeting of the minds, you’ll also be speaking with Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Meta, in your first joint appearance together. What will you share with the audience?
JH: You won’t want to miss this conversation. Meta is doing some incredible work in AI, and we’re looking forward to being at SIGGRAPH together. We’ve shown some cool things at this show. We’ll talk about the intersection of research products, and the future of AI and simulation. You’ll have to tune in.
SIGGRAPH: Your keynote presentations are conversations, allowing SIGGRAPH 2024 participants to hear from you in a more candid way. Along those lines, we want to ask a more personal question. From students to emerging professionals, SIGGRAPH is a place where careers are inspired and fostered. Can you share the best piece of advice you received early on in your career?
JH: Prioritize your time, be strategic about identifying and focusing on the most important things that need your attention at work and at home. If you’re doing your life’s work and doing things not easily done by others, there will be plenty of time.
There’s still time to register for SIGGRAPH 2024! Join us in Denver or online, 28 July–1 August, to take the first step in building our most desirable technological future. Don’t miss Jensen’s keynote conversations, taking place on Monday, 29 July.
