This year has been one of the most challenging, yet productive, years for the London chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH. Not only was there a huge shift in how we ran our events, but the personal lives of both our board members and our participants were drastically altered. However, we are pleased to look back at the year and acknowledge our achievements and the support from our community.

One of our most exciting new events was the “Fast Forward for Students,” an event created in order to connect graduates with companies during a year when networking was almost impossible.

In addition, we were able to work alongside both Foundry and Unity to create some fantastic collaborative events, such as a brand-new “Bring Your Own Comp,” exploring new real-time technology and reaching out to other countries such as India with events!

We also were able to take our ever-popular events “Funny Fail Stories,” “Drink and Draw,” and “Bring Your Own Animation” to Zoom rooms throughout the year. This meant that not only could we connect with our regular audience, but also a new, extended audience from all over the world. Along with these events, we introduced “Online Life Drawing” so that artists could relax and unwind with some classic drawing, and helped out with the VIEW Conference.

There are many other events we could list, but we thank all of those who have joined us through such a difficult year. Here’s to a hopefully less crazy 2021.
