Lights dimmed and screens flickered to life as SIGGRAPH 2025 took over the Vancouver Convention Centre on Monday, 11 August, and Wednesday, 13 August, for two showcases of animation mastery. Monday kicked off the first live ticketed event, drawing a crowd eager to see storytelling pushed beyond boundaries. The excitement continued Wednesday with a second showing. Each night, the Electronic Theater began with a special and moving pre-show performance featuring Olivia C. Davies, Maynard Johnny Jr., Sah’Plek Bob Baker / Spakwus Slolem, Willie Lewis / Spakwus Slolem, Emmalena Fredriksson, Sophie Dow, and music by TSMIKA & MICHAEL RED. Meanwhile, across the globe, the Electronic Theater streamed live, delivering stunning visuals straight to screens everywhere.

Introductions and Awards
On Monday night, the spotlight shone bright as the SIGGRAPH 2025 Electronic Theater Award winners stepped up to claim their well-earned honors. The excitement continued Thursday morning with the announcement of the Audience Choice Award, celebrating the voices of the crowd. Huge congratulations to this year’s standout creators:

Now Into the Show
SIGGRAPH 2025’s Electronic Theater presented 17 visionary animations, ranging from the immersive world of “Perpetual Ocean 2: Western Boundary Currents” to the touching narrative of “Wednesdays with Gramps” and the dynamic visuals in “Diablo IV Vessel of Hatred” and “Armored Core: Asset Management”. Each film took audiences on a compelling emotional ride filled with awe, resilience, humor, and introspection — demonstrating animation’s power to break creative and technical ground.
